a hippo and a blanket

September 12, 2011

Last weekend on my ride back from Wisconsin to Chicago I began to knit the Hippo from Susan B. Anderson’s Itty-Bitty Toys, the same book that had the pattern for the bunny I made this summer, and have completed his body, head and one arm.  Right now he looks a little like Barney but I’m pretty sure once he gets a few other features he’ll look less like a purple dinosaur.

Which may take him a week or so to get because while I was working on Hippo’s second arm, I got a little antsy and decided to wind eight skeins of Cascade’s Eco Wool.  All the wool is for the Log Cabin Wedding Blanket that I’m making for my cousin and her new husband. (The image above is the “before” and the image below is the “after.”)

I think winding all the yarn really motivated me to start working on the project because last night I casted-on and knitted 30 rows!
