green yarn

I am reminded by friends every once and awhile that I promised to knit them something, for some friends they have been waiting a few months and others have been waiting for years.  And since 2013 is just kicking off I decided that I would set aside a set time every week to work on the projects I owe folks, like Sunday afternoons.  My hope is to cross every project off the list by this June but more importantly not to add to the list. Which prompted me to make a rule for myself to no longer “promise” to knit friends or family items and instead encourage them to look at my Etsy store to see if there would be something they’d like to purchase or commission a piece. I think this will help me fulfill current commitments and allow me to focus more on the business side of things.

So, yesterday I kicked off my afternoon of personal knitting with the honey cowl and season one of The West Wing.

I’m about 3/4 of the way through the first skien of yarn and I think I can bind-off next Sunday. Which means I can not only cross it off my list but it will arrive before the recipients birthday!

I also did a little work to some West Wing this weekend! I stand by my theory that watching that show makes you smarter and more productive at whatever you’re doing.

I want to make that cowl. in fact, every cowl I see, I want to make.

The honey cowl is knitting up really well. I think that it is a great project for someone who has mastered knit and purl and is ready for a new technique.
